I agree that Britain has a lot to answer for– and their guilt covers a good piece of the world’s surface.

British colonialism lied, cheated and oppressed its way through so many places that Britons proudly declared that ”The sun never sets on the British Empire”, without ever giving a thought about the cost to others.

If you compiled a list of the colonialist wrongs done by Great Britain and the reparations needed to make them right, they would have to pawn the British Isles just to make a down payment...

These are (in no special order or priority), the First Nations (Canada), Aborigines (Australia), Maoris (New Zealand), Native Americans (in the former American colonies), Hindus and Muslims (India/Pakistan), Afghanis, ALL the tribes of the British African colonies, Middle Eastern Arabs and Middle Eastern Jews... and the list goes on.

Promises made, promises broken, ”divide and rule”, double crosses and triple crosses were all part of the British Empire’s ”diplomatic tools”.

If Britain were to pay for the damages its empire caused all around the world, the Queen would have to auction off all her palaces and the Crown Jewels just to make a start.

Who exactly are you talking about? If any “shit stirring” is being done, it’s being done by the Kenyans mentioned in the article. Do you deny the claims of the Kenyans against the British Empire?

Oh, really? What about the incessant war between Pakistan and India? That’s a product of the British love for the “divide and rule” principle. So are the intermittent tribal wars that crop up in Central Africa from time to time. They seem like very real and present conflicts to me.

Something must have touched a tender nerve… you take a hypothetical and toss accusations and insults around as if someone suggested that Great Britain should be wiped off the face of the map… and that IS incredibly “childish and petty”.

Instead of making veiled accusations and ranting against things never said, why don’t you come right out and say what you mean?

If you take offense at anyone who lists the facts of the British Empire, you must be a very busy person. Don’t you think you should get a life?

Again you presume to educate the readers with your account of the events of history? And to what sycophantic end?

I am sure the People of Kenya could give a rat’s ass what another colonizer thinks of their situation.

Again, you would do well to let sleeping dogs lay before you find your tax burden increased to pay reparations... since, according to you the only prerequisite for collecting reparations is that the country still exist.

Please point out the factual errors in this statement. Not your opinion, but facts, backed up by proof.

Please explain to me what is factually wrong here. Can anyone lodge a complaint against the Persian, Roman Byzantine or Ottoman Empire? No, they can’t, because there is no one to lodge the complaint with. Can anyone lodge a complaint against the British Empire? Yes, because it still remains in existence, although far less than it once was.

Whether those complaints become legally justified and deserving of redress or not is the business of the court adjudicating the matter, not yours or mine.

What exactly is your problem? Is it something you have against the truth in general, or just the truth when told by someone from Israel when it doesn’t match your own bias and prejudices?

The only “colonizers” in the Israeli equation are Arabs… and not just in Israel, but all over the Middle East outside of the Arabian Peninsula. Just in case you don’t get it, there’s a reason it’s called the “Arabian Peninsula”.

Again, is this the person who told me “don’t be retarded”? When reparations are awarded, there has to be a grievance. That grievance has to be proven. Counter-claims also have to be taken into account. If you want to know how the claims of the 650,000 Palestinians compare to the claims of the 900,000 Jewish refugees from Arab lands, the Palestinians will come up short by several billion dollars. Worry about the Arab tax burden.

It’s the Arab world that is desperate to make sure this “sleeping dog lays” and doesn’t demand restitution for wrongs committed.
